Live traffic information on your mobile

Have you ever seen the blue cameras by the side of the roads or on bridges?

There are over 8,000 of them in the UK and enable Trafficmaster, the UK's leading journey management company, to accurately tell us where delays are.

This accurate live traffic information can now be delivered direct to your mobile with Traffic TV, enabling you to see exactly where the Traffic delays are before you set off on your journey.

Traffic TV works on most handsets that have a colour screen and support Java, and will display a map with the main UK roads on it. When you connect to the Traffic TV service the latest delays are sent to your phone and flash on top of the map. Zoom in to the area of interest and you can see either how fast the traffic is moving:

Or see the how many minutes you will be delayed by above usual journey time.

Traffic TV also allows you to see live CCTV images (or clips) as well. Just click the CCTV button when you see a camera on the map to view its current ( live) image.

When the map starts up you will be centred on London

Press the option or more menu button and choose Zoom Out twice and you will now see all of the UK.

The flashing Icons show where the congestion is:

  • Red is Very slow or Stationary Traffic
  • Orange is Moderately Slow Traffic
  • Yellow is Slow Traffic

On this view you see the approx location and severity of the jams. If you were travelling from London to Birmingham you would immediately be able to see for example if there were any problems on route.

Choose the option Zoom In and zoom into an area of interest. The UK map view is Zoom level 1 and there are 5 levels of Zoom. You scroll around the Map using your jog dial / 5 way arrow pad.

By level 4 you will see not only the actual speed or minutes delay displayed but also Junction numbers and CCTV camera locations.

Everyone is different and everyone has their favourite views so when you have yours in view choose bookmarks and follow the steps on the screen.

Want to make your favourite view the one you want to see when the map launches? Choose the default option in bookmarks.

How often do you want your map updated? Just when it launches or every few minutes? Simpy choose Settings and the Automatic Refresh option.

Lastly, are you a speed or minutes person? Some prefer to see the speed of the traffic, others the actual minutes you will be delayed ...again choose settings and the Unit of delay option.

Enjoy Traffic TV and if you have any further questions please feel free to contact our support team.
